Bringing Colour & New Life to the Garden
This project in Valdelaume was all about transforming an existing garden that was ready for more colour, variety and seasonal interest. Our goal was to create a fresh planting scheme that would bring the garden back to life while complementing its surroundings.
Clearing the Existing Garden
We began by removing the old planting to create a clean starting point for the new design. The existing plants were cleared and taken away, allowing us to prepare the garden properly and make room for a completely new planting scheme.
Preparing the Soil
Good planting starts with healthy soil. Once the garden had been cleared, we improved the soil by incorporating compost to support soil structure and provide a better growing environment for the new plants.
This preparation created a strong foundation for the new planting and helped give the garden the best possible start.
A New Planting Scheme
With the groundwork complete, we implemented our new planting plan, carefully selecting and positioning plants to introduce more colour, variety and visual interest.
The aim was to create a more vibrant garden with a balanced combination of plants that work together to give the space a fresh and welcoming character.
Finishing with a Natural Mulch Layer
To complete the project, we covered the entire garden with a fresh layer of wood-chip mulch. This gives the planting beds a neat, consistent finish while helping to retain soil moisture and reduce weed growth.
The natural texture of the wood chips also creates an attractive contrast with the new planting, bringing the whole design together.
A Fresh Start for the Garden
By combining a new planting plan with careful soil preparation, compost and a natural mulch finish, we gave this garden in Valdelaume a fresh start.
The result is a renewed outdoor space with more potential for colour, growth and seasonal interest — demonstrating how thoughtful planting and proper preparation can make a real difference to an existing garden.
